Photo taken of the Eiffel Tower, Paris, France.
Cropped, adjusted, added lighting, made monochrome, and shadowed in Photoshop.

This is an interesting composition with a strong narrative depth. I enjoy how the line of buildings leads the viewer towards the tower, and I also enjoy how you've composed the scene and processed it in such a way that it diverges from the usual romantic and warm aesthetic that the Eiffel Tower is regularly captured in.

In terms of improvements that could be made, I would definitely consider a less obstructive logo or watermark. I find my eye being constantly pulled down to the bottom of the screen, and while I understand the need for logos and watermarks I would suggest making this one monochrome and somewhat transparent so the eye isn't pulled towards it so much.

Additionally, I would consider how this shot looks in pure black and white, maybe with a fairly high contrast so that the glare at the top of the tower blows out a little; this'll give the same sort of surrealist effect, I think. Afterwards one could always add some sort of duotone tint back into the image, but as it's a fairly busy composition I feel that the less colour the better.

These are just the alterations I would make if I were presenting the image myself, and it's by no means a condemnation of your work! I understand that people have different preferences when presenting their work.

Overall, this is a strong composition with a powerful narrative.

A lot of people have asked where I took this from to get this view of the tower, I can't remember the street name or anything, but I think it's a well traveled street, if memory serves me right, so it's not a hidden alley or anything. I took it when leaving the tower and walked it all the way down to the Cathedral Notre Dame (which, is a bit of a walk, I'd suggest taking a cab to save time). As for the graphic novel-like style, I just thought it fit, too! :) Thanks a lot for the comment!

I wouldn't think you're depressed simply because you wanted to explore a theme with many possibilities; so no need for you to worry about that. :)

As for the photo, its interesting, because some old world architecture has alot of character, and is dark in some places. I think you've caught on to this anomaly and it paid off for you with this photo- it certainly gives off a grim, ill-fated feeling, but Eiffel Tower stands resolute, symbolic of a bastion of hope with that dim light....its dim, but still there. Good job. :)
